Tsomgo/Changu Lake, Sikkim

Tsomgo/Changu Lake is a glacial lake situated at a height of 12400 feet.  It is about 40 km away from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. On our visit to Tsomgo/Changu Lake, we were quite lucky to find snow there. The views were absolutely breathtaking, as you can see in the pictures below.

Tsomgo/Changu Lake is revered by the local people. In the local Bhutia dialect, the name Tsomg is said to be made of two words - 'Tso' which means "lake" and 'Mgo' meaning "head" which literally translates to the meaning "source of the lake".

Steep mountains surround the lake and these mountains are covered with snow during the winter season. When summer arrives, the snow melts and it becomes the source of this lake. I am posting from of my favourite pictures from our Tsongmo Lake visit for this week's Saturday Snapshot.

Capturing the Waterfall ( Fast and Slow Shutter Speed ) ~ Mahabaleshwar for Saturday Snapshot

This week for Saturday Snapshot I am sharing pictures of a waterfall, from our recent trip to Mahabaleshwar, a small hill station in the state of Maharashtra, India

I was trying to play with different shutter speeds and loved how the camera took two different pictures of the same thing!

This picture was taken on my recent rather hurried trip to Kolkata. One day we visited Belur Math in the morning and it was a nice experience. While Kolkata can easily be associated with crowds, traffic and hustle bustle of life; it is a city that never stops, Belur Math is quiet and tranquil. Just the kind of place you would go for a morning walk to kick start your day. The main temple stands tall in the center of the premise, but the only thing is taking pictures is prohibited! I had clicked some pictures away from the main premise. This is one of them.

Saturday Snapshot ~ Munnar in God's Own Country!

This week for Saturday Snapshot I am sharing some pictures from Munnar, India. We went for a holiday there a couple of years back and I still have sweet memories of a relaxing holiday there.

Set at an altitude of 6000 ft in Idukki district,Kerala, Munnar was the favored summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. Munnar is essentially a tea town with unending expanse of tea plantations. As far as you can see, you see a green carpet of tea plantation. It is breathtakingly beautiful, an the idyllic tourist destination in God's own country. It is a haven of peace and tranquility and is the place to be, if you are looking for a relaxing holiday!

I had been to Ranakpur, Rajasthan during our 2010 India Trip. Ranakpur is famous for its Jain temple. It is exquisitely carved and is a destination for many tourists and pilgrims. Exotic Sunset ~ For Saturday Snapshot

For Saturday Snapshot post, I am sharing some more pictures from my holiday. I witnessed one of the exotic sunsets ever at the San Antonio Bay, Ibiza! We sat by the bay area and watched as the sky changed it's hues and colors. Cliff Walking @ Howth ~ A Picture Post for Saturday Snapshot!

Howth is an area in Fingal County near Dublin city in Ireland.  It has one of the most picturesque and panoramic views of the sea.We went there for cliff walking last week. Here are some pictures:

London Trip in Pictures ~ For Saturday Snapshots

 I have already written here that I had been to London for new year. This trip was memorable. I have been there before and have been to all the popular sightseeing place the city has to offer. So this time, we planned our trip differently. We spent a good amount of time enjoying Indian food at Indian joints in Wembley and Southall. Southall had been on top of our list to visit and we really enjoyed 'the desi' experience.

By 4 pm on new year's eve, we were in the fireworks show viewing area near the Big Ben and London Eye. The crowed swelled by the hour and we were only glad to have reserved our spots early.

It only at 10 pm things go started there with music and the lovely changing hues of the London Eye. In simple words it was just gorgeous!

The fire works that happened at sharp 12.00 am and lasted for about 11 minutes. It was one of the most spectacular show and something I will cherish forever. It left me dazed, stupefied and dumbfounded and I did not dare to click a picture, least I would miss something. Also, I knew my camera would not be able to capture even 1% of it. Thanks to BBC for the high definition video on youtube. I have watched it several times again and it still leaves me speechless.

Today, I am sharing some pictures of Bray to GreyStones Coastal Walk (Ireland). We took this walk last saturday and it was an amazing experience. Beautiful sea cliffs bythe Irish sea, fresh sea air, lovely weather ~ what else would make a perfect weekend. The coastal walk is 8km in length and it took us more than 2 hours and we went on slowly but steadily, soaking in the views and capturing some in our cameras.
